BragJack research highlights attacks against the communication boundary between cloud AI systems and privileged browser environments.
The important authority lesson is that an agent, user, model and session can all remain legitimately authenticated while the instruction path itself is manipulated.
Authentication does not establish instruction authority
An enterprise cannot infer authority merely from the fact that an authenticated agent received an instruction.
The system needs to establish who originated the instruction, under what mandate, through which delegation chain, whether the instruction path changed and whether the resulting effect remains authorized.
Bind effects to authority origin
Authrizd should bind consequential instructions to their authority origin and provenance.
Principal-originated, delegated-agent, system-generated, tool-generated, retrieved-content, environment-injected and unknown instructions should not all carry the same authority weight.
Only a valid authority and delegation path should be capable of authorizing a consequential effect.
Authenticated instruction does not mean authorized instruction.
